LIONS POSTGAME: Sophomore Vivian Grenald scored a team-high 24 points to help lead the @jserra.girlsbasketball team to a 66-53 triumph over the Santa Margarita Eagles in the Trinity League and regular season finale on Monday at JSerra Catholic High School.

Grenald spoke about the team’s defense igniting their transition scoring, finishing in second place in the Trinity League, and the key to continuing to play good basketball with the postseason on the horizon.

LIONS DEFEAT EAGLES IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE: The @jserra.girlsbasketball team closed out the regular season in winning form on Monday, as the Lions knocked off the Santa Margarita Eagles 66-53 in Trinity League action at JSerra Catholic High School.

The Lions finished the regular season with a 17-10 overall record and a 4-2 league record, which earned them a second-place league finish for the first time since the 2014-2015 season.

Sophomore Vivian Grenald scored nine points in both the first and second quarters, the latter helping to fuel a 10-run that propelled the Lions to a 38-27 halftime advantage.

JSerra pushed the advantage to 13 at the end of the third quarter, but the Eagles made one final charge in the final quarter, cutting the margin to five points with less than four minutes remaining.

But sophomore Shae Talleur helped seal the victory with three three-pointers in the final 2:00 minutes of the game.

Grenald finished with a team-high 24 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field.

Sophomore Kayla Rice added 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the floor.

Grenald and Rice each added five rebounds.

Talleur scored 12 points, connecting on four shots from behind the three-point line.

Sophomore Rosie Santos led the team with seven assists.
