UNDEFEATED LIONS CONTINUE DOMINANT SURGE
The JSerra Boys Soccer team continues to extend its’ run of undefeated dominance.
The Lions currently sit at 10-0 overall on the season, having won all seven Trinity League matches to date, and are currently ranked as the top team in the country by MaxPreps.
After defeating Mater Dei 4-0 on January 10 to seize first place, JSerra went on the road for three straight matches.
The Lions knocked off rival Santa Margarita 2-0, as senior Gavin Allegaert supplied the offense with two goals in the first half.
JSerra next paid a visit to St. John Bosco to take on the Braves, where they encountered their toughest test to date.
The two teams were deadlocked at 1-1 late into the second half, but senior Jake Tatch tallied the match-deciding goal with less than five minutes remaining.
Allegaert added an insurance goal with less than two minutes left to give the Lions a 3-1 win.
JSerra renewed acquaintances with Servite and overwhelmed the Friars on their home field with a 4-0 victory.
Tatch keyed the win by scoring two goals, while Allegaert and senior Anthony Stern also found the back of the net.
JSerra took down Orange Lutheran for the second time this season in their match last Friday, as the Lions produced a 4-0 home pitch triumph.
Senior Brody Martinez got the Lions’ offense going with a set piece goal in the 26th minute.
Tatch increased the lead with a goal in the 31st minute, which was assisted by Allegaert.
The duo connected in reverse order for the third goal of the contest in the 53rd minute, as Tatch sent a crossing pass into the middle of the box that Allegaert headed into the goal.
Junior Cameron Shafizadeh put the final goal of the match on the scoreboard in the 74th minute, as he booted a shot that was deflected by the Lancers’ goalie and rolled into the back of the net.
JSerra will next be in action on Wednesday, as they once again go head-to-head with the Mater Dei Monarchs at Mater Dei High School in a match that will go a long way toward determining the Trinity League title.
Kickoff is slated for 5:00 p.m.
