LIONS STAR AT TROPHY AND TRITON INVITATIONALS

The JSerra Girls and Boys Track and Field teams each yielded noteworthy performances at the Laguna Beach Trophy and Triton Invitationals
There were a plethora of highlights turned in at Laguna Beach High School.
Freshman Kaia Streadbeck earned the first individual victory of her prep career, as she topped the field in the 1,600m race with a winning time of 5:02.86.
Junior Chloe Elbaz and Yorba Linda sophomore Isabella Wroblewski battled for the win throughout the 800m race, with Elbaz (2:12.75) striding across the finish line just behind Wroblewski’s winning time of 2:12.18.
Elbaz’s clocking was a lifetime best and the sixth fastest 800m time in school history.
Elbaz teamed with freshman Morgan Woolforde, senior Annie Elise Packard, and junior Maya Woolforde to place second in the 4x400m relay with a clocking of 3:54.50.
Maya Woolforde also placed fourth in the 400m race with a time of 57.35.
Maya Woolforde highlighted the Lions’ field event efforts by winning the long jump with a fourth attempt leap of 16 feet, ½ inch.
Sophomore Kai Beary finished second in the discus with a toss of 119 feet, 11 inches.
Junior Molly Hogan finished second in the high jump, clearing 4 feet, 10 inches.
Senior Taye Newman enjoyed a big day of racing on the boys’ side of the invitational.
Newman produced a bell-lap split of 59.69 in the 1600m (the lone runner amongst all three heats to split a final lap time of sub-60 seconds) to propel him to victory in 4:17.13.
That time moves him into seventh place all-time in school history.
Newman also stepped across the finish in third place in the 800m race in 1:54.62, vaulting him into third place in school history.
Junior Alden Morales placed fourth in the 400m race with a time of 49.11, the second fastest one-lap performance in school history.
At the Triton Invitational at San Clemente High School, junior Helena Reuter finished in three-way tie for second place in the pole vault with a clearance of 11 feet, 1 inch.
