LIONS LEAD THE WAY AT TRINITY LEAGUE CLUSTER

The JSerra Girls Track and Field team flexed its’ collective muscle against its league peers on Thursday, as the Lions posted a perfect 3-0 record at the Trinity League Cluster Meet at St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower.
JSerra defeated Mater Dei 82-53, toppled Santa Margarita 98-38, and knocked off Orange Lutheran 110-21 in head-to-head dual meet team scoring.
Senior Anne Elise Packard served as a headlining catalyst in the Lions undefeated team performance, as she ran to individual triumphs in both the 1600m (5:01.82) and the 800m (2:14.96).
(The Lions claimed the top four places in the 800m race and three of the top four places in the 1600m race to accumulate key team points).
Packard also teamed with freshman Morgan Woolforde, junior Chloe Elbaz, and junior Maya Woolforde to produce a win in the 1600m relay in a time of 3:54.88.
Elbaz was also an individual race winner, as she clocked a victorious time of 45.46 in the 300m hurdles.
Maya Woolforde was victorious in the 400m, striding across the finish line in a time of 57.32.
JSerra’s winning performances also extended into field events.
Sophomore Kai Beary was a double winner in the throwing circles, as she uncorked winning tosses in both the shot put (34 feet, 2 inches) and the discus (110 feet, 7 inches).
The Lions took home the top four spots in the pole vault, led by junior Kate Layk, who claimed first place with a clearance of 10 feet, 9 inches.
Sophomore Adi Rusin also cleared 10 feet, 9 inches and finished second on attempts.
Junior Molly Hogan tied for the top height in the high jump, as she cleared 5 feet.
JSerra produced a trio of individual victories on the boys’ side of the competition.
Senior Bradley Arrey won the 1600m race in 4:17.13.
Arrey’s time (a lifetime best) tied senior teammate Taye Newman’s winning time from last weekend’s Laguna Beach Trophy Invitational for seventh place on the school’s all-time best 1600m list.
Junior Alden Morales (1:54.77) produced a race victory in the 800m.
Junior Cole Carlson won the 3200m race in 9:45.98.
