LIONS CONTINUE WINNING WAYS


The JSerra Girls Lacrosse team continued its’ hot play last week, as the Lions improved their current winning streak to five consecutive games.

The Lions started their week off by knocking off the Corona del Mar Sea Queens 10-6 in a nonleague game at Corona del Mar High School in Newport Beach on Tuesday.

Sophomore Viv Devir scored a team-high four goals, junior Kate Berkus added two goals and two assists.

Senior Mary O’Hara also scored two goals.

Sophomore Dylan Sakayan and senior Lily Peguero each scored a goal in the game for the Lions.

JSerra returned to its home field for a nonleague contest against Newport Harbor, and the Lions overwhelmed the Sailors 19-3.

Berkus tallied a team-high five goals, all in the first three periods, and added three assists.

Viv Devir scored four goals, while senior Evie Devir and Peguero each tallied three goals.

O’Hara scored two goals and tied Berkus for team-high assist honors with three.

Senior Seylah Childress added a goal and an assist, with Sakayan also finding the back of the net for a goal.

JSerra is now 8-2 on the season and will host Park City High of Utah on Friday, March 28th at JSerra Catholic High School.

That game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
