LIONS CONTINUE FINDING THEIR STRIDE
The JSerra Girls Basketball team continues to discovery its’ chemistry as they zero in on the CIF-SS playoffs.
The Lions are currently in the midst of a three-game winning streak and enter the final two weeks of the regular season with a 14-9 overall record and a 2-1 league record, which has them currently in second place.
JSerra started its’ hot streak with a 59-51 comeback victory over St. Anthony at the Mira Costa Classic at Mira Costa High School.
The Lions trailed by eight in the fourth quarter, but a 15-2 run propelled them into the lead, before free throws by sophomore Rosie Santos and a lay-up by sophomore Kayla Rice inside the final minute sealed win.
Sophomore Vivian Grenald led the way to victory for the Lions with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Rice scored 13 of her 18 points in the second half, while also pulling down nine rebounds.
JSerra earned its second league win of the season with a 73-57 road triumph at Santa Margarita.
Rice was the catalyst scoring a game-high 29 points on 13-of-18 shooting from the field.
Grenald (17 points and 12 rebounds) and Santos (17 points and 10 assists) recorded double-doubles.
JSerra’s third straight win came last Saturday at the Public vs. Private Showcase at Los Osos High School in Rancho Cucamonga, as the Lions defeated Westview High 68-56.
Santos enjoyed her best scoring game of the season, connecting on 10-of-11 shots from the field, and scoring a team-high 22 points.
Grenald continued her strong play, scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Sophomore Addie Nolan added 11 points.
The Lions will take on to the homecourt on Tuesday, as they host Orange Lutheran.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
