LIONS ADVANCE PAST ARLINGTON IN CIF-SS PLAYOFFS

The JSerra Boys Soccer team continued its undefeated surge and punched its ticket into the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS Open Division playoffs with a 3-2 victory over the Arlington Lions in a second round match at JSerra Catholic High School.

JSerra improves to 15-0 on the season and will travel to take on Santa Monica in the quarterfinals on Wednesday before hosting the Vikings in the semifinals next Saturday at JSerra Catholic High School.

The Lions sealed their trip to the next round with a dominant first half, that was jump-started by senior Angel Reyes, who tallied the first goal of the match in the seventh minute on a well-placed cross into the box by senior Jake Tatch.

Tatch increased the lead to 2-0 in the 18th minute, as he weaved through the defense before blasting a shot into the back of the net.

Sophomore Aquiles Rodriguez capped the Lions’ scoring in the 37th minute, booting a shot into the goal off the second assist of the night by Tatch.
