LIONS SHINE IN WIN OVER SIERRA CANYON
The JSerra Baseball team enjoyed a winning performance on the home diamond, as the Lions posted a 4-2 victory over the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers in a nonleague game at JSerra Catholic High School.
The Lions are now 3-1 on the season.
It was a scoreless game through three innings, but the Lions broke through with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Sophomore Ayden Coleman produced an RBI single to right field with the bases loaded to score senior Carter Meza to give the Lions a 1-0 lead.
A Trailblazers error later in the inning allowed both sophomore Shane D’Arcy and junior Takashi Rutherford to score to increase the advantage to 3-0.
Sierra Canyon scored twice in the top of the sixth inning to narrow the deficit to 3-2, but senior Ethan Kriwinski (2-for-2 at the plate) provided insurance in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single to center field to score D’Arcy for the final margin of victory.
Seven players recorded at least one hit in the game for JSerra.
Junior Otto Graham enjoyed a stellar effort on the mound to earn the victory, throwing four shutout innings, allowing only one hit and striking out six.
