The JSerra Boys Volleyball team kicked off its’ season in title-winning fashion for the second straight year, as the Lions claimed the Gold Division championship at the Portola Tournament at Portola High School in Irvine.

JSerra opened the competition with Pool A victories over Saugus (25-19, 25-16) and El Toro (25-21, 25-12).

The Lions battled University High (the Pool B winner) in a competitive crossover match, winning 25-22, 26-24 to advance to the Gold Division playoffs.

After dropping their opening set to Marina 23-25 (the team’s lone set loss), the Lions tied the match with a 25-20 win.

The Lions finished off the Vikings with a dominant 15-4 triumph in the decisive third set.

JSerra collided with Northwood in the Gold Division title tilt, with the Lions producing identical 25-21, 25-21 set triumphs to successfully defend their title.
