HICK NAMED NEW GIRLS LACROSSE HEAD COACH
The JSerra Athletic Administration is proud to announce that Kate Hick has been named the new Girls Lacrosse Head Coach at JSerra Catholic High School.
Hick, a native of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, has been involved with organized lacrosse since she was in middle school.
She played collegiately at Duke University, where she helped the Blue Devils become nationally ranked and qualify for the NCAA Tournament four times, including a Final Four appearance during her sophomore year.
Hick was a four-year starter, two-time team captain, and earned All-American honors during her time as a Blue Devil.
She began her coaching career as the head coach of the Women’s Lacrosse program at Pepperdine University in Malibu from 2007-2010, and then moved into coaching on the high school level, where she served as the head coach of the Girls Lacrosse team at Foothill High School in Santa Ana from 2014-2018.
During her tenure at Foothill, Hick helped guide the Knights to a Southern Section title in 2015 and was named the Orange County Register’s Girls Lacrosse Coach of the Year in 2017.
Hick concurrently coached the Girls National Lacrosse team for three years and has since coached at the club level with ACES Lacrosse and Renegade Lacrosse.
Hick has been married to her husband Dan for 18 years and has three kids Avery (12), Ty (9), and Quinn (4).
Upon her appointment as the new Girls Lacrosse Head Coach, Hick expressed a desire to help her student-athletes achieve a high level in all aspects of life.
“I am very excited to be joining JSerra and hope to build a strong and elite program that will produce success on and off the field.”
JSerra Athletic Director Chris Ledyard highlighted Hick’s lacrosse coaching experience and her philosophical symmetry with the school’s mission for student athletes.
“Kate has been known as one of the great girls lacrosse coaches of Orange County for more than a decade. She had a great run at Foothill High school and stands as one of the most respected girls lacrosse head coaches in California. She is an excellent match for the JSerra philosophy of student-athlete development in mind, body, and spirit.”
