LIONS BEAT BULLDOGS IN HOME OPENER: The @jserrahoops Boys Basketball team enjoyed a successful home-opener on Saturday, as the Lions defeated the Oak Hills Bulldogs 73-64 in a nonleague battle at JSerra Catholic High School.
The Lions are now 5-1 on the season.
Behind eight points from senior Jaden Bailes, the Lions raced out to a 23-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.
JSerra held a 38-26 lead at halftime, but the Bulldogs outscored the Lions 22-13 in the third period to trim the deficit to 51-48.
Bailes helped the Lions close out the Bulldogs in the fourth quarter, hitting 3-of-4 from behind the arc, scoring 11 of his team-high 24 points.
Bailes also collected five rebounds and dished out four assists.
Sophomore Micah Cunningham hit 6-of-10 shots from the field and scored 14 points.
Junior Earl Bryson added 13 points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
Sophomore Ryan Doane produced a double-double, scoring 10 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.
